MISSION STATEMENT
The Mid-Atlantic Clearing House Association, Incorporated, trading as MACHA-The
Mid-Atlantic Payments Association is a not-for-profit, tax-exempt organization
engaged in supporting and promoting the electronic transfer of funds between
member financial institutions nationwide.
Our Association is one of nineteen regional Automated Clearing House (ACH)
associations which belong to NACHA - The Electronic Payments Association. NACHA
and its individual member associations have entered into an agreement with the
Federal Reserve System making the Operating Rules of NACHA, and its member
associations, applicable to all private-sector ACH transfers processed by
Federal Reserve Banks, including those involving non-ACH member financial
institutions.
Our mission is to increase the use and awareness of electronic payments made
through the ACH Network by providing training and operational support to the
payments professionals in the Mid-Atlantic region. Also, to be a resource for
information related to topics outside of the ACH such as check, wire transfer
and electronic commerce in general.
The Association serves member financial institutions comprised of commercial
banks, savings banks, credit unions, and savings and loans in Maryland, District
of Columbia, Delaware, Northern Virginia, Northeast West Virginia, and Southern
Pennsylvania. MACHA also serves associate members comprised of business entities
other than financial institutions.
We share a common strategy with our membership in the pursuit to maximize
business efficiencies, improve payment processes, reduce risk and cost, and
increase customer satisfaction.
