The Mid-Atlantic Clearing House Association, Incorporated, trading as MACHA-The Mid-Atlantic Payments Association is a not-for-profit, tax-exempt organization engaged in supporting and promoting the electronic transfer of funds between member financial institutions nationwide.
MACHA was formed in 1975 and serves member financial institutions, comprised of commercial banks, savings banks, credit unions, and savings and loans in Maryland, District of Columbia, Delaware, Northern Virginia, Northeast West Virginia, and Southern Pennsylvania. The Association also serves associate members, comprised of business entities other than depository financial institutions. The Mid-Atlantic Payments Association is one of 18 regional payments associations that belong to the National Automated Clearing House Association (NACHA).
Our mission is to increase the use and awareness of electronic payments made through the nationwide automated Clearing House (ACH) Network by providing training and operational support to the payments professionals in the Mid-Atlantic Region. MACHA is also a resource for information related to topics outside of the ACH, such as card, check, wire transfer and electronic commerce in general.
We share a common strategy with our membership in the pursuit to maximize business efficiencies, improve payment processes, reduce risk and cost, and increase customer satisfaction.
